The Mountain Stream Hat
The Mountain Stream Hat is a handmade crochet hat in colors that reminded me of the Little Colorado stream that runs through the White Mountains of Arizona. The deep blues of the pools holding trout and the teal colors of the shallow fast running narrows. The double brim will keep you toasty warm and the textured seed stitch and long striping yarns, changing colors like the stream, make this a one of a kind winter accessory.
This beanie pattern from Kirstin Holloway Designs is one of my very favorite patterns because of the lovely texture in the stitches. The double brim is made using two lightweight strands of different yarns – one the lapis blue of Malabrigo fingerling superwash wool and the other 100% acrylic Mary Maxim self-striping teal. The of the Mountain Stream uses Ice Neptune’s Fantasia Heavy worsted – 25% wool/75% acrylic. The result is an extremely soft hat that is easy care and will keep you warm - and fashionable - all winter long.
Would you like it made in a different color combination? Message me and I would be happy to let you know what yarns I have available to create your dream hat. You have the choice of a removeable or sewn in pom pom, or none at all. Just click the options box.
The hat measures 8" from the bottom of the brim to the top of the crocheted hat. Lying flat, brim-to-brim, it measures 10", but TAKE NOTE that this hat and brim expands to fit a normal 20-23 inch woman's head.
I crochet each of my hats individually, using yarns that I have collected from a variety of sources. My interest is in creating hats that are fashionable and unique, and that use the highest quality yarns to keep you cozy all day in the winter cold.
This would make a great gift - or buy it for yourself!
