The Leontyne Hat

The Leontyne Hat

This handmade crochet red and gray hat is so dramatic that it reminded me of the fabulous soprano, Leontyne Price.  The Leontyne Hat makes just such a statement!  The wide, fuzzy brim of this hat soars in an operatic red and then combines with layers of soft bouclé yarns in grays, reds and whites.

This yarn used in the fuzzy furry brim of the Leontyne Hat is Dark Horse Yarns Kitten Really Red 100% soft nylon paired with Ice Brand Rock Star red and black striped shiny acrylic/wool blend.  The body of the Leontyne is crocheted in blocks of Bernat Blissful bouclé 100% polyester yarn and the middle block combines Caron Latte Cake with Feza Venice Metallic Accent Hand-Tied Wool/Nylon/Silk yarn.  The changes in texture and color are what make this hat stand out.  It is like wearing a work of art, all the while keeping you cozy and warm.

Would you like it made in a different color combination?  Message me and I would be happy to let you know what yarns I have available to create your dream hat.  You have the choice of a tied in removeable pom pom (convenient for removing before hand washing) or sewn in pom pom, or none at all.  Just click the options box.

The hat measures approximately 8" from the bottom of the brim to the top of the crocheted hat. Lying flat, brim-to-brim, it measures 10", but TAKE NOTE that this hat and brim expands to fit a normal 20-23 inch woman's head.

I crochet each of my hats individually, using yarns that I have collected from a variety of sources. My interest is in creating hats that are fashionable and unique, and that use the highest quality yarns to keep you warm and cozy all day in the winter cold.

This would make a great gift - or buy it for yourself!  I crochet each of my hats individually, using yarns that I have collected from a variety of sources.
