The Laurel Hat

This handmade crochet hat reminds me of the cool forest in winter with its wide range of greens, yellows and maroon, so it was named Laurel, after the evergreen Laurel tree.  The body of the hat is crocheted using a favorite yarn – Malabrigo hand dyed wool and that is what makes this hat one of a kind.  Each hank of Malabrigo yarn is somewhat different and you will have a truly unique hat with the Laurel.
 
This Malabrigo yarn used in the body of the Laurel hat is a super soft worsted weight hand dyed 100% in greens and reds, while the brim is a green Red Heart 100% acrylic Soft yarn.  At the very top of the hat, I added several rows of an accent yarn – Ice yarns custom blend of 15% wool/5% mohair/30% acrylic and 15% polyester metallic.  This change up of textures really makes this hat distinctive!  The stitches in the hat are close and rippled, making this a super warm, yet super light feel.

The hat measures 8" from the bottom of the brim to the top of the crocheted hat. Lying flat, brim-to-brim, it measures 9 1/2", but TAKE NOTE that this hat and brim expands to fit a normal 20-23 inch woman's head.
 
I crochet each of my hats individually, using yarns that I have collected from a variety of sources. My interest is in creating hats that are fashionable and unique, and that use the highest quality yarns to keep you warm and cozy all day in the winter cold.
