The Elderberry Hat

This handmade crochet winter hat is in yummy shades of purple and pink, just like tasty elderberries!  This  hat is so soft and squishy and warm – the acrylic giving it the softness and wool giving it the extra warmth.  But honestly, the colors in this hat are what make it a standout – so deep and rich, like Elderberry jam.
 
This beanie pattern from is from The Knotted Nest and has instantly become a favorite of mine.  Look at that textured Alpine stitch in the body of hat!  To add to this hat’s style I used a contrasting self-striping yarn for the warm double brim and topped it off with a large purple fake fur pom pom for a hat that really makes a fashion statement.  The yarns are both from Ice – Fantasia Clematis long striping yarn in 25% wool/75% acrylic for the body and Roseto self-striping yarn in 30% wool/70% acrylic for the brim.

The hat measures 7.75" from the bottom of the brim to the top of the crocheted hat. Lying flat, brim-to-brim, it measures 9.5", but TAKE NOTE that this hat and brim expands to fit a normal 20-23 inch woman's head.
 
I crochet each of my hats individually, using yarns that I have collected from a variety of sources. My interest is in creating hats that are fashionable and unique, and that use the highest quality yarns to keep you cozy all day in the winter cold.
