The Burnett Hat

This toasty brown handmade crochet hat, the Burnett, oozes warmth and coziness.  The shades of a fall day walking among tall trees whose burnt umber leaves are ready to fall with the first snowstorm of the season, pull on the Burnett beanie and you will be ready for sitting by the outdoor bonfire, sipping a hot toddy.
 
Cold weather is not required to love this chunky wool beanie with its large fake fur pom-pom.  Crocheted with Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn (80% acrylic / 20% wool), the body of the hat is in tones of brown, copper and burnt umber while the brim changes up the stitching for extra textural interest and also switches color to an off white/beige combination in the same Wool Ease yarn.  This pattern can be found at Kerry Jayne Designs and I use this pattern frequently because it is so versatile and well fitting.

The hat measures 8" from the bottom of the brim to the top of the crocheted hat. Lying flat, brim-to-brim, it measures 9.25", but TAKE NOTE that this hat and brim expands to fit a normal 20-23 inch woman's head.
