The Aster Hat

The Aster hat is a handmade crochet winter hat that is as purple as Asters that bloom in late summer.  The Aster bloom always reminds me that summer is coming to a close and winter will soon be on its way. The lovely purple colors, along with changes in textures and fun multi-color brim make this a truly one of a kind hat.
 
The body of the Aster hat uses a variety of purple yarns and textures - a heavy worsted Fantasia Clematis long striping yarn in 25% wool/75% acrylic with a band of Caron Latte Cake short eyelash yarn in 100% acrylic in the middle and topped at the crown with Ice Brand Mirella in 40% Nylon (polyamide) 35% Acrylic, 15% Mohair, 10% Metallic.  The brim really makes this hat pop, using multi-colored Ice Brand Amonia Lana in 80% acrylic and 20% wool. I love the soft feel of this brim and the contrasting multi-colored brim!  Topped off with a purple fake fur pom-pom, this hat a statement maker.

The hat measures 8" from the bottom of the brim to the top of the crocheted hat. Lying flat, brim-to- brim, it measures 9 ", but TAKE NOTE that this hat and brim expands like an accordion to fit a normal 20-24 inch woman's head.  This makes for a fantastic fit.
 
I crochet each of my hats individually, using yarns that I have collected from a variety of sources. My interest is in creating hats that are fashionable and unique, and that use the highest quality yarns to keep you warm and cozy all day in the winter cold.
